Patient Journey and AI-Fueled Healthcare Research
We just wrapped up a journey mapping project for a healthcare company and it got us thinking more deeply about the personal impact of healthcare. For us at Clearworks, access to quality healthcare matters – a lot. We’ve been doing research with patients for years and, in that time, have witnessed firsthand parents of critically ill children who can’t decipher their health insurance documents or heard the despair of a young woman whose illness went undiagnosed for years.
We’ve worked with companies on a range of healthcare-related products and services and, whenever we do, it strikes us how valuable it is for us to be able to use creative and empathetic approaches to generate deep insights. It takes sensitivity, intuition, and sometimes novel techniques to uncover how patients are truly feeling and what their most pressing needs are.
We recently discovered an AI-fueled platform (10+ years in the making) that will allow us to add yet another dimension to this type of work. We’re excited about the tool that enables us to get a consolidated view of real patient and healthcare professional conversations that are occurring online including in medical platforms, groups, and articles and in anonymized case reports. This tool uncovers insights in pretty much any therapeutic area, no matter how niche. The AI engine allows for the synthesis of large amounts of existing data relatively cost-effectively and quickly resulting in uncovering under-the-radar pain points that might be missed by traditional survey methods. We can then use that data as a starting point for digging deeper with rich qualitative methodologies that allow us to intimately understand patients and healthcare professionals, and what matters most.
We’re excited to use our existing toolkit and this new platform to help healthcare companies improve their solutions, platforms, medications, devices, and patient support programs and make a real difference in patients’ lives.
