Clearworks Student Innovators Sponsorship
OVERVIEW
At Clearworks, we are passionate about customer insights and getting closer to customers to fuel innovation. We want to share our passion by giving three undergraduate Goizueta Business School students the opportunity to attend one of the preeminent conferences in the field, TMRE: The Market Research Event, as a Clearworks Student Innovator. This year’s TMRE conference will be held on October 23-25, 2017 in Orlando, Florida.
At the TMRE conference, the selected Clearworks Student Innovators will hear from luminaries like best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell and network with senior business leaders like 3M’s Chief Insights Officer Dawn Cunningham, PopSugar’s CMO Ana Fieler, and Nest’s Head of Customer Insights, Elizabeth Merrick May. They will gain exposure to trends and new techniques in the insights and innovation industry and participate in hands-on experiences with new and innovative technologies.
Clearworks is holding a competition to select three students to serve as the inaugural 2017 Clearworks Student Innovators. Each will receive a sponsorship that includes a TMRE conference pass, airfare, hotel, and a stipend for meals. All undergraduate students currently enrolled in the BBA program at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School are eligible to submit an entry for consideration. Entries should be in PowerPoint format and less than seven slides. Please read the full competition rules for entry requirements and deadlines.

The Competition and Sponsorship Details:
Three students will be selected as Clearworks Student Innovators. Each shall be sponsored to attend the 2017 TMRE conference.
Details:
- The sponsorship includes a conference pass for three days (October 22-25), hotel accommodations for two nights, a $75 visa gift card to help cover meals, and a flight from Atlanta, GA to Orlando, FL.
- The estimated value of the sponsorship is $4,775
- The sponsorships are funded and paid for by Clearworks
- No sponsorship substitutions, assignments, or transfers. No cash equivalents. If the trip cannot be used on the dates specified then the trip will be forfeited.
- The Clearworks Student Innovators selected will be responsible for any additional expenses incurred while attending the conference beyond what is outlined in the sponsorship description.
- Taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the selected Clearworks Student Innovators.
Eligibility and Other Important Rules:
- The sponsorship opportunity is open to students who are currently enrolled in the undergraduate program at BBA program at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
- Only the first 50 entry submissions will be considered.
- All participants must be 18 years or older.
- Entries must be in PowerPoint format and must not exceed the maximum slide count indicated.
- Employees of Clearworks or Emory University are not eligible.
- The competition is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
- Clearworks Student Innovators’ names, photos, including photos at the conference, and winning entries may be publicized by Clearworks (the competition sponsor) and/or Emory University
How to Enter:
- Entries must be submitted in the form of PowerPoint slides.
- Using no more than 7 total slides, describe who you are and why you should be chosen for this opportunity.
- This assignment is intentionally ambiguous; feel free to structure your presentation deck in a way that you feel presents you most effectively
- Entries should NOT include links to websites or embedded videos
- Entries should be emailed to: innovation@clearworks.net as a PowerPoint file attachment
The Timeline:
- The Competition is open to undergraduate students currently enrolled in the BBA program at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. One entry per applicant. Entries will be accepted via email to innovation@clearworks.net, beginning Monday, August 28th at 9:00 a.m. EST and ending upon the sooner of September 15th at 9:00 p.m. EST UPDATED DEADLINE: September 30th at 9:00pm EST or until 50 entries have been received.
- Clearworks will select and notify the 3 Clearworks Student Innovators no later than September 22, 2017 – UPDATED: October 3rd, 2017
- Clearworks Student Innovators will be announced publicly on or around September 27th, 2017 UPDATED: October 5th, 2017
Clearworks Student Innovators Selection:
- Entries will be judged by Clearworks team members based on the following criteria using a 100-point scale:
- Passion– 30 points
- Creativity – 30 points
- Alignment with the goals of the program – 40 points
- In the case of a tie – the finalists will be asked to submit a 100 word essay on a selected topic. That essay will be used to break the tie.

Agreement to Official Rules:
Selection is contingent upon compliance with all requirements set forth in these Official Rules. These Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding.
Competition Timeline and Clearworks Student Innovators Notification:
The competition submission period begins on August 28th, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. ET and ends on September 15th, 2017 at 9:00 p.m. ET UPDATED: September 30th at 9:00pm EST or when 50 entries are received – whichever occurs first.
At the end of the submission Period, the Sponsor will review the first 50 entries and, using its judgment, select the three winning entries. The participants who submitted those top entries will be notified by email on or about September 21st. If a selected Clearworks Student Innovator cannot be contacted within 72 hours after the first attempt to contact him/her or declines to participate, the Sponsor may select an alternate Clearworks Student Innovator in his/her place.
The Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the competition. Entries that are received by the Sponsor after the submission Period may be disqualified.
Clearworks Student Innovator Requirements:
Except where prohibited, each potential Clearworks Student Innovator may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within seven days of being notified. The certificate will confirm that the entry was an original work by the entrant, that the entrant agrees that Clearworks can use and publicize their entry, and permitting Clearworks to capture and publicize photos of the students at the event.
If Clearworks is unable to deliver the certificate to the Clearworks Student Innovator or if the Scholar fails to sign and return the certificate within the required time period, the sponsorship may be forfeited and awarded to another Competition applicant at Clearworks’ discretion.
Taxes, charges and transfer fees on the sponsorships, if any, are the sole responsibility of the Clearworks Student Innovators.
Agreement between Clearworks (the Sponsor) and the entrant (you):
Right of Use:
By submitting an Entry or participating as a Clearworks Student Innovator, you: (a) irrevocably grant the Sponsor, its agents, licensees, and assigns a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully sublicensable right and license to copyright, reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, modify, create derivative works of, exhibit, and otherwise use your as-is or as-edited (with or without using your name) in any media (whether now known or hereafter developed) throughout the world for any purpose, without limitation, and without additional review, compensation, or approval from you or any other party; (b) waive any moral rights that may preclude the Sponsor’s use of your Entry or require any further permission for the Sponsor to use the Entry; and (c) agree not to instigate, support, maintain, or authorize any action, claim, or lawsuit against the Sponsor on the grounds that any use of the Entry, or any derivative works, infringes any of your rights as creator thereof , including, without limitation, copyrights, trademark rights, and moral rights. In addition, you hereby grant an unlimited license to the Sponsor to copy, display, broadcast, distribute or otherwise use your Entry for any purpose, including, but not limited to, promotion of the Sponsor or Sponsor’s activities. You also grant the Sponsor unlimited authority to sublicense such rights to any third party. You agree that the Sponsor shall also have the right to edit, adapt and publish your Entry and may use it in any media in association with the Competition without attribution or compensation to you, or your successors or assigns or any other entity. You agree that the Sponsor will not be liable to you or to any third party for any editing, adaptation, modification and/or publication of any Entry.
Publicity:
Except where prohibited, by submitting an Entry you irrevocably grant the Sponsor and its agents your consent to use, record, reproduce, publish, display, perform, translate, and distribute, your name, likeness, voice, quotation(s), opinion(s) and biographical information, including without limitation, any photograph or recording for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration; and the names, likenesses, voice and biographical information of any natural person appearing in your Entry, including without limitation any photograph or recording, for any promotional purpose in any media, worldwide, and/or for any other commercial or non-commercial corporate purpose, including without limitation use on merchandise or for marketing, without attribution or further payment or compensation to you or your successors or assigns or any other entity.
General Conditions:
In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problems, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules, or (b) terminate the Competition and, in the event of termination, award or not award the sponsorship in the sole discretion of the Sponsor. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the process or the operation of the Competition or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Competition may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Release and Limitations of Liability:
BY PARTICIPATING IN THE COMPETITION , WHETHER OR NOT YOU SUMBIT AN ENTRY, YOU AGREE IRREVOCABLY TO RELEASE, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS THE SPONSOR AND ITS PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES, OTHER COMPANIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMPETITION , AND EACH OF THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SHAREHOLDERS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AGENTS (THE RELEASED PARTIES) FROM AND AGAINST ANY CLAIM OR CAUSE OF ACTION THAT ARISES FROM OR RELATES TO YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION OR RECEIPT OR USE OF THE SPONSORSHIP, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: (A) ANY TECHNICAL ERRORS ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMPETITION , INCLUDING LOST, INTERRUPTED OR UNAVAILABLE INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER (ISP), NETWORK, SERVER, WIRELESS SERVICE PROVIDER, OR OTHER CONNECTIONS, AVAILABILITY OR ACCESSIBILITY OR MISCOMMUNICATIONS OR FAILED COMPUTER, SATELLITE, TELEPHONE, CELLULAR TOWER OR CABLE TRANSMISSIONS, LINES, OR TECHNICAL FAILURE OR JUMBLED, SCRAMBLED, DELAYED, OR MISDIRECTED TRANSMISSIONS OR COMPUTER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE MALFUNCTIONS, FAILURES OR DIFFICULTIES; (B) UNAUTHORIZED HUMAN INTERVENTION IN THE COMPETITION ; (C) MECHANICAL, NETWORK, ELECTRIC, COMPUTER, HUMAN, PRINTING OR TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS; (D) APPLICATION DOWNLOADS, (E) ANY OTHER ERRORS OR PROBLEMS IN CONNECTION WITH THE COMPETITION , INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ERRORS THAT MAY OCCUR IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPETITION , THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE CLEARWORKS STUDENT INNOVATOR , THE CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT OF THE COMPETITION , THE PROCESSING OF ENTRIES; OR (F) INJURY, DEATH, LOSSES OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY THAT MAY BE CAUSED, DIRECTLY, OR INDIRECTLY, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION , INCLUDING CLAIMS THAT YOUR ENTRY INFRINGES ANY PERSON’S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OR RIGHTS OF PUBLICITY OR PRIVACY, OR YOUR ACCEPTANCE, RECEIPT. OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE. YOU FURTHER AGREE THAT IN ANY CAUSE OF ACTION, THE RELEASED PARTIES’ LIABILITY WILL BE LIMITED TO THE COST OF ENTERING AND PARTICIPATING IN THE COMPETITION , AND IN NO EVENT SHALL YOU BE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE ATTORNEYS’ FEES. RELEASED PARTIES ARE ALSO NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INCORRECT OR INACCURATE INFORMATION, WHETHER CAUSED BY SITE USERS, TAMPERING, HACKING, OR BY ANY EQUIPMENT OR PROGRAMMING ASSOCIATED WITH OR UTILIZED IN THE COMPETITION . YOU WAIVE THE RIGHT TO CLAIM ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PUNITIVE, CONSEQUENTIAL, DIRECT, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES.
